Young people all know the feeling of wanting to be free, and the need to make many memories. For some, throwing a house party with games is at the top of the list of things they want to do.
Luckily, all they need is a house, drinks, snacks, and of course, games!
Nigerians love to party. One thing they love other than parties is money. They love the stacks load of cash and the ability to use the money to enjoy themselves.
Let’s face it, Nigerians are the real ballers.
Parties are one of the many things we inherited from the Oyinbo people. Some people’s idea of a house party is a chilled gathering where you just meet and catch up and probably make new friends. However, THE REAL DEFINITION of house parties is getting a huge house where people you know and don’t know come for a wild night.
The thing about these parties is that the more people, the better the energy.
You’ll be forced to step out of your shell and do something unexpected! But nothing matters more than the sweet memories that you make.
Playing games is a source of fun and luckily, Nigerians have a lot of games, both locally sourced or from another country.

Why house parties?
Partying outside can be expensive – you have to worry if you’re going to get in or if you’re going to spend your entire salary on drinks.
Luckily, for a house party, all you have to do is buy some drinks and get games. People choose house parties because it’s affordable.
It’s an opportunity to meet new people, especially if you’re shy and want to make more friends.
With house parties, you also don’t have to worry about the club shutting down. Your only concern is how you’re going to clean the house and nurse that hangover.
List of Fun party games
Flip cups
Flip Cup is a team-based game where two teams compete against each other.
They stand on opposite sides of a large table, facing each other, and must flip or flick a plastic cup to make it land face flat on the table. If they succeed, their partner drinks, and the team that finishes the content wins.
Sounds like a plan to get you drunk. If you know what I mean.
Also, before we go on, I just want to mention that if there was ever any non-living thing that will land in hellfire, it is definitely that red cup.

Charades
This is a party game classic where people throw guesses to a person about what they are talking about.
Charades can also be played in a traditional way, for example using sticky notes, or by downloading the app to your phone.
Lemon-lemon
Lemon is such a fun game, especially when there are drinks involved. In this, each player has a number. The game starts with someone saying “lemon-one” followed by lemon-nine (or whatever number belongs to every other player). If you fail to answer your number, you take a drink.
When playing this game, you need to be fast and very quick.
Who am I?
“Who Am I?” is a guessing game in which players guess to identify a famous person. This is similar to charades but here, they take turns acting like a famous person.
Others must then guess the identity of the person by asking close-ended questions based on the celebrity’s traits.

Truth or dare
Ah, yes. the baba of Nigerian party games.
I don’t think there exists any house party in Nigeria that does not feature this game in a desperate attempt to see nakedness. Smh.
Truth or Dare is a simple game requiring people to choose between answering a truth or performing a dare.
Most of the time, this game turns sensual as players are asked to either show a part of their body, make out with another player or give a dirty lap dance. Suffice to say that playing this game while claiming to be in a relationship or committed to someone is the highest form of self-deception.

Concentration
Concentration is usually an ice-breaker that involves picking a topic and players are to reply with elements that fall under that topic. They must do this without repeating something someone has said, or taking time to respond.
Everyone loves it until a difficult topic lands or catches them off guard.

Simon says
The aim of this fun house party game is for players to do the exact of what Simon says. The players cannot perform activities that Simon doesn’t tell them to do.
Who is Simon? Well, I have no idea, and neither do I think the people playing do.
Never have I ever
After truth or dare, this is another popular party game that has captured the hearts of both young and old players around the world. Players take turns asking other players about things they have not done.
If it applies to you, you would respond by either taking a drink or dropping a finger depending on the ground rules.

Two truths and a lie
This is a great and fun way for people to get to know each other.
In this game, each player tells three statements about themselves. Two of these statements are true and one is a lie. The other members then try to guess which statement is the lie.
This game is also one to air out your dirty laundry.
Monopoly
This is probably one of the most popular group games to play with friends ever. Each player moves clockwise around the board and buys available properties. The winner is the player who will bankrupt the other players.
Monopoly is an O.G., but do you know there are some people who still can’t play it?
Jenga
At first glance, Jenga may not seem like a particularly interesting game, but it is.
Just arrange the long tower and try to pull out a block without knocking it over. This will heighten the excitement around.
To win in Jenga, you need to have jazz.
