We live in a diverse world with so many people with different types of personalities. All can never be the same.
Learning how to identify people by their personality type can bring a higher level of understanding to interpersonal relationships and reduces conflict.
Each person has a unique combination of four personality types. That is A, B, C, and D.
Personality Types
A personality is a unique way of thinking, feeling, and behaving. It embraces moods, attitudes, and opinions, and this is most clearly expressed in interactions with other people. It includes behavioral characteristics, both inherent and acquired, that distinguish one person from another.
There are many different theories and models of personality, each with its own unique way of categorizing and describing different types of personalities. Over the centuries, these basic categories have had several names and designations, but they’re known as The Director, The Socializer, The Thinker, and The Supporter with some coming with personality tests. Or, more succinctly, Types A, B, C, and D personalities.

Type A Personality
While some Type A personality traits vary from person to person, certain traits are common. Some people call those with a Type A personality “controllers”, and they are not exactly wrong. They love to be in control of everything.
They are usually very goal-oriented and practical in their solutions, not to mention the fact that they can be competitive.
Type A personality characteristics
If I were to describe a person with this personality, I would use five traits;
- Ambitious
- Workaholic
- Works well independently
- Passionate but short-fused
- Dominant
Type A personalities don’t like a lot of restraints or restrictions placed on them. They want to be free to be able to do what they want and prefer to work independently. And since they tend to be workaholics, they are ready to put in whatever time and effort it takes to accomplish their goals.
Often, they may seem impatient, especially if they believe someone is spending too much time going over details with the.

Type B personality
The Type B personality is the complete opposite of a person with a Type A personality. In contrast, they are very outgoing, energetic, and like being around people. They also enjoy being the center of attention.
Type B people are friendly extroverts and most people like them immediately after meeting them. These people rely on people’s approval and constantly need to please people more.
Compliments, acknowledgment of their achievements, words of admiration, and even applause from these groups are the most important thing you can do for them.

Like Type, A personalities, Type B personality characteristics can also vary by individual. The best example of a Type B personality is someone who is:
- Enthusiastic
- Fun loving
- Confident
- Friendly
- Charismatic

- Spontaneous and impulsive
Because they are so enthusiastic, they may talk about themselves. Yes, they might come across as self-centered but their motivation is not to brag but to be liked.
The Type B personality’s biggest fear is being humiliated in public since that might make many people disapprove of them. Another interesting fact is that they may not want to appear unattractive or unsuccessful either, so they’ll hide any weakness.

Type C personality
Third on the list of types of personalities is the Type C personality.
Detail-oriented, they like to be involved in things that are controlled and stable. Accuracy, rationality, and logic interest them.
Because they don’t like being around people, they are usually labeled as introverts. Unlike Type B personalities, other people’s emotions may not be a priority for them. They also share some traits with Type A personalities like being organized and independent.

Type C personality characteristics
The best example of a Type C personality is someone who is:
- Accurate
- Detail-oriented
- Creative
- Dependable
- Skeptical
- Independent
- Organized
- Analytical and critical
- Intent on progress
As a disadvantage, they may tend to be quite controlling, both of themselves and others. They may appear stoic because they don’t want to display a lot of emotion. They’re very outcome-driven and will be sticklers for following protocol.
But above all, they are careful, resourceful and make the best employees.
Type D personality
I would describe someone with a Type D personality as cute and caring. Their personality traits differ from the others; they are not controlling, invested so much in work, or crave people’s approval. They are themselves and love it!
A Type D personality takes a slower and easier pace toward life. They love to be chilled.
At the office, they prefer doing repetitive tasks day in and day out. They are shy, of course, and cower at confrontations, but they are the most reliable people!

Type D personality traits
The best example of a Type D personality is someone who is:
- Observant
- Caring
- Sincere
- Consistent
- Dependable
- Calm and stable
- Fair and equitable
- Looks approachable
- Resistant to change
- Self-confident
At work, they may not be so intent on progress but they are very cautious. Their personality traits could also have problems as they could be used by others and resist change often.
The Type D personality will gladly work hard to please the people they work for as long as they feel appreciated and receive plenty of reassurance that they’re needed. They need that sense of security.
