A single company employed a 100-year-old man from Brazil for 84 years straight, breaking an outstanding world record recognized by Guinness.
Walter Orthmann joined RenauxView, previously known as Industrias Renaux S.A, in 1938. He stayed with the company for his entire career and became a member of their family.
In March of this year, Orthmann celebrated his 100th birthday. Guinness World Records recognized him as the oldest man to work for a single company for 84 years. Orthmann’s achievement earned him an outstanding world record.

The nearby weaving mill hired him immediately for his strong German proficiency.
Walter Orthman’s parents helped him secure a job in 1938 when children were expected to work and support their families. This was his proudest achievement, as per his statement to Guinness World Records.
He said, “back in 1938, kids were expected to work to help support the family. As the oldest son of five, my mother took me to find a job at the age of 14.”

However, in the US, they had to endure some tough times as they were homeless and had to live in a homeless shelter in New York.
